Event Partners Ireland Training

We developed and delivered a 1-day event safety training session for Event Partners Ireland and their sister company Conference Partners International. Specialising in incentives and conferences, their teams are regularly on-site at a wide variety of venues.

While the team at Event Partners Ireland may not work on festivals and concerts etc., they regularly engage suppliers and deal with venues etc. so they wanted a better understanding of event and crowd safety as well as risk analysis.

They were particularly interested in the where the lines of responsibility lie between venues, suppliers and more and themselves. This can be quite a confusing area and we enjoy working to bring some clarity to it for clients.

We enjoyed developing the training for Katie, Jill, Elva and all who attended. The session itself was highly interactive and a great example of how bespoke training like this can work best. We worked hard to develop the content to fit their specific brief. That coupled with the willingness of those in the room to engage and learn ensured the value in the investment for Event Partners Ireland.

The Challenge

Katie and Jill in Event Partners tasked us with putting together several modules that would educate and empower the Event Partners staff with respect to event safety at their client events.

Our Solution

We worked closely with Katie in Event Partners to establish the content / modules that she felt the team would benefit from. We agreed on those and the structure of the day and then developed and delivered that custom content in a one-day session.

The Result

The group were very engaged and had a very good handle on what they wanted to learn during the training. They'd identified where they felt there may be knowledge gaps and made sure all their questions were answered on the day. We enjoyed the conversational, problem-solving element, which we always allow room for with how we do our training.

What we did

As with all our training programmes, we worked very closely with the client to ensure that what we were going to develop was what they actually needed from the training. We don't deliver 'off the shelf' training.

Katie talked us through their work, the types of events they produce, the situations they find themselves in and so on. She also identified specific challenges and areas they wanted addressed within the training.

We took all those inputs and our training development process began apace. We shaped and refined the content over the course of a couple of weeks until we were satisfied with the content.

We then sent a detailed outline to Katie, Jill and the tea in Event Partners for approval before delivering the training.

We provided:

  • Bespoke content development
  • Professional delivery
  • Support materials design
  • Follow-up support

We enjoyed the conversational, problem-solving element, which we always allow room for with how we do our training.

What we did

On the day, we delivered a number of modules, including:

  • Introduction to Event Safety
  • Introduction to Crowds
  • Event Safety & the Law in Ireland
  • Risk Aversion / Subjectivity
  • Terror Attacks
  • Systems, Procedures & Paperwork
  • Risk & Risk Assessments
  • Wrap-up & Specifics

We incorporated a wide range of interactive elements also. We felt they'd be key, both to support learning outcomes and to keep things interesting. Most of the events the group work on are conference & DMC-type events, so not all our 'usual'-type content (re festivals, large mass gatherings etc.) would be relevant either.

As part of the continuous training programme at Conference Partners International and Event Partners Ireland, we contracted Safe Events to conduct a full-day training session on 'Crowd Safety & Risk Analysis' in our offices in March 2017.

The training was very comprehensive and educating while maintaining interesting content and throwing in a dash of fun! This applies especially to the interactive elements throughout the day, which were a great way to visualise rules, scenarios etc. that were discussed during the presentation.

Mags Connelly, our trainer, was highly motivating, took her time to answer all our individual questions and kept the training on topic in a timely manner.

We would like to thank Mags and Mark for the productive day and highly recommend Safe Events to anyone who is looking for such support in making their events safer.
