Fiestaval

We really enjoyed planning this one with Kevin and the other local restaurateurs. We're fans of what Kevin does and how he runs his business.

We were glad to be able to combine what we do with what he does to produce something great for people over the weekend.

There was no fee to attend and we put in a lot of family fun activities and entertainments, which meant families were able to sit and enjoy some food, with the children entertained for a little while.

The Challenge

We'd to plan & programme a family fun food festival in Temple Bar to run over a bank holiday weekend, on behalf of local restaurants. It was a brand new, one-off event so had to work well on a weekend that already had plenty going on for people to choose from.

Our Solution

We worked closely with the restaurants, Kevin in Chameleon in particular, to make this one happen.

They wanted a showcase weekend for them to reach out to people and that's what we provided for them, safely and effectively.

The Result

The event was a great success. It did exactly what the restaurants wanted it to do and it gave the public an opportunity to taste some amazing food in an environment they wouldn't normally get to do so.

The weather held too, which was helpful.

What we did

We liaised with Temple Bar Cultural Trust, the operators of Meeting House Square, to ensure we were planning and proposing a management system they'd be happy with.

Having run other events in the space before, we knew the way we tend to plan and manage things would work for TBCT.

There were particular points of focus for this event from a planning perspective, with the various cooking setups and requirements for the restaurants.

We provided:

  • Event Management Plan
  • Capacity calculations
  • Event Controller
  • Safety Officer
  • Vendor coordination
  • Paperwork review & approval
  • Liaison with Fire Officer
  • Budget Management

What we did

Sales were really strong, with the restaurants all surpassing their own expectations.

Naturally the event involved an investment of time and resources from each restaurant, which translates into a financial cost too. It was important that the restaurateurs see a return on that investment. Luckily they did and each of them heralded the weekend as a success.

The vibe in MHS throughout the day was that of a nice, chilled out festival. There was some nice music playing throughout the day, which helped create that atmosphere, without impacting negatively on the permanent local businesses.

I had the pleasure of working with Cuckoo Events / Safe Events for a food festival in Temple Bar.

Boy, was I glad I had them by my side, from start to finish, they minimised my stress while ensuring that we had a safe, fun event.

I will definitely use their services again and have recommended them to others.
