Flavours of Fingal

We've been working with Fingal County Council on this event for many years now and have been lucky enough to be involved in developing and enhancing it over that time.

Flavours of Fingal is run by Fingal County Council in association with Fingal Farmers and Fingal Tourism.

Featuring everything from local artizan food producers through to dog trials, from children's comedians to huge bouncy castles and from the 'guess the weight of the bull' game through to a giant teddy bear made out of bales of hay by the lovely people from Keogh's Crisps, this annual country show event really does have something for everyone.

It's now a permanent fixture on the Fingal events calendar, with people travelling from far afield and, indeed, abroad annually to attend.

In recent years the event footprint has doubled in size, with attendances of 60,000 people on some days.

The Challenge

Events like Flavours have lots of moving parts, so keeping 50,000 people safe & entertained annually can be challenging. This event also has many distinct audiences to cater to, including children, farmers, parents & more.

Our Solution

We work closely with Fingal CoCo to produce the Event Management Plan and provide a full Transport Management Team each year, as well as providing an Event Controller & Safety Officers. We operate like an extension of Fingal’s own operational team.

The Result

Over the 5 years of the event it has grown significantly, with upwards of 60,000 people attending on one day in 2017. We’ve developed a good system that works for Flavours, that sees thousands of vehicles parking & departing efficiently over the weekend.

What we did

One of the key services we provide on Flavours is the Transport Management Plan as well as a strong, experienced team to action that plan on the weekend of the event. Fingal have gotten proactive feedback from local residents thanking them for how little the event affects them.

We provided:

  • Risk Assessments

  • Transport Management Plan
  • Event Controller
  • Safety Officers
  • Large Transport Management Team

What we did

We spend time modelling alternatives for various elements of Flavours so that the event may continue to improve and, in particular, that it might offer return visitors each year a new and better experience.

We look at everything from tweaking the parking operations, to what programming we use on the stage in the walled garden.

We consider the site design & how we might improve the attendee journey while also working with vendors & exhibitors to see how they might add to the overall experience.

We love this event and, as with all our events, work to improve it in any way we can so that those paying to attend leave happy.

I am very conscious of ensuring every aspect of the event is as well planned for and managed as possible and I want to use competent and trustworthy contractors and suppliers that I can count on.

I personally received great feedback from the statutory bodies afterwards regarding the Safe Events / Cuckoo Events team and their professionalism.

I continue to have the utmost confidence in them to deliver a competent team and a calm team leader.
