Irish Maritime Festival

We first worked on this event in 2015, after Louth County Council contacted us on foot of a recommendation from another local authority client. They were expecting a significant increase in attendance numbers that year and felt they needed to bring in some specialist support to ensure the event could cope with the extra numbers.

We joined the project quite late that first year and had to quickly integrate with the team and stakeholders already working on the event. It is testament to how well we did so, that we continue to work with those same partners today on this and other projects. 

We worked on the event in 2016, after winning a competitive tender process and then went on to win a similar process to run the event in 2017 and 2018.

We work closely with Louth CoCo and all the stakeholders to enhance and develop the Festival year on year. 

While popular elements remain each year, there are always new additions, tweaks to the event site, improvements on elements etc., which ensure the event is fresh each year for locals and visitors alike. 

The Challenge

Planning & managing a family festival for 40,000+ people each year on an operational port and featuring on-shore and off-shore activity programmes is quite an involved process.

Our Solution

As a family-fun event that takes place on a working port and attracts in excess of 40,000 people across the weekend, this one has its challenges. It benefits greatly from our real-world, practical approach to Crowd & Event Safety.

Both audience numbers and sponsor interest have grown significantly over the past couple of years. The Festival's profile on the international event calendar has been growing too. Importantly, local support has also grown over the last few years.

What we did

We've also taken on the programming responsibility for the event over the past couple of years, which makes ensuring safety at the event an easier task.

We enjoy working on this event every year and we particularly enjoy working with Mary and her team in Louth CoCo as well as Con and Karen in Whitelight Consulting, who look after the marketing and PR for the Festival. 

We integrated with them seamlessly in 2015 and have won the tenders since with Whitelight as a partner. The Festival has benefited significantly from the close working relationship that's developed between us all.

With attendee numbers, profile and sponsor interest growing each year, we continue to develop and improve the Festival constantly. 

We are constantly adding new elements and tweaking things to ensure the Festival experience continues to grow and improve. With audiences including locals and those from further afield, we understand the importance of innovation.

Our results and approach has seen us win two consecutive highly competitive tender competitions to work with the client on the Festival and we see that as an endorsement of our work.
