Powerscourt Townhouse

We've been working with Paul and the team in Pygmalion since NYE 2013, when we got involved at extremely late notice in order to ensure their NYE event could go ahead.

We all worked well together and have been helping them run 3 or 4 events in Powerscourt Townhouse each year since.

Powerscourt is a shopping centre in the middle of Dublin city. It has everything from chic bridal boutiques through to art galleries and everything in between. Pygmalion is the licensed premises on site and it is they that promote the 'nightclub' events in the space.

Over the years we've developed a strong working relationship with Mary and George, who represent the management company for the whole centre as well as Terry, the Head of Security for the centre. Once we all worked so well together on the first event we knew there was scope to do more in there.

We've had Leftfield, Hot Since 82, Love Sensation and many more in there and they're always superb events.

The Challenge

Powerscourt is a shopping centre with 40+ boutiques, housed in a stunning Georgian building in the heart of Dublin city. We work with our client to facilitate some serious parties in the space, ensuring all stakeholders are happy.

The Result

The Pygmalion events in Powerscourt are always eagerly anticipate and tend to sell out too. It’s a unique space in which to be able to attend these types of events and that, along with world-class acts, sees it a popular venue when we’re in there.

What we did

We initially engaged with the centre's insurers and representatives of the property management company to assure them of our experience and the standards to which we operate. We fully appreciate that the prospect of running these types of events in Powerscourt might not sit well with some.

We made the first event work well at short notice and this helped us gain the confidence of the key decision-makers. The key was to secure the chance to prove it could be done and then doing it exactly as we said we would.

We've gone on to run some amazing events in the space and continue to do so.

We provided:

  • Bespoke capacity calculations
  • Statutory agency liaison
  • Occasional licence support
  • Crowd consultancy
  • Event Management Plan
  • Event Controller
  • Safety Officer
  • Post-event reviews

What we did

Over the years we've been working on events in Powerscourt we've been involved in a number of key developments and alterations to the space that allow us to run safer, more enjoyable events.

Design changes and layout alterations have all enhanced the customer experience. These things don't happen quickly, especially in a Georgian building in Dublin, but we've done everything properly and have engaged in a meaningful way with all stakeholders.

We continue to work with the client to run events in Powerscourt and envisage many more into the future.

We pride ourselves in what we continue to achieve in this space, given its unique challenges.

The Safe Events Team worked with us on Love Sensation gig and, as usual, they got the job done.

Everything from queueing to cloak room, from crowd flow to medical cover, they were on top of, like they always are.

They make running events in here so much easier and they work well with the retailers, the property managers, the insurance company and everyone who needs to be on board.

We are happy to have them.
